A new RSE could be assigned a mentor or buddy to support the onboarding during the first months, especially if working together in a project. The mentor should be a direct colleague able to provide guidance and support. The mentor can be responsible for the following tasks:

- [ ] Introduce the new RSE to local team routines, workflows, and ways of working
- [ ] Provide a tour of relevant buildings and facilities (e.g., office spaces, library, faculty buildings)
- [ ] Explain how to reserve rooms and shared spaces (library, faculty, or central systems)
- [ ] Help plan introductory meetings with relevant colleagues and stakeholder groups:
  - [ ] ICT colleagues - from operations only relevant managers (datamanagement, security/privacy, Faculty IT managers, Innovation team)
  - [ ] Library colleagues - Research Data Management / RD Services 
  - [ ] 4TU.ResearchData team (community manager/ technical team)
  - [ ] Faculty data stewards
  - [ ] Open Science Community Delft Community manager (Tanya Yankelevich)
  - [ ] Library Training coordinator (Paula Martinez Lavanchy)
- [ ] Discuss and clearly communicate working arrangements
  - [ ] On‑campus vs remote days
  - [ ] Core availability hours
  - [ ] Plan introductions and meetings accordingly
- [ ] Go over relevant meeting, seminar, and events schedules
